Providing occupational therapy services in an elementary school setting, this contract position supports student participation in classroom activities by addressing fine motor skills, visual-motor integration, sensory processing, and self-care abilities. The role begins as soon as possible, with a schedule from 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM, totaling 37.5 hours per week for the current school year.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate student engagement in classroom tasks alongside peers through targeted OT interventions.
- Modify classroom tasks or environments to accommodate individual student needs.
- Conduct diagnostic and evaluation assessments to determine student requirements.
- Prepare clear, comprehensive reports based on assessments and observations.
- Develop and maintain Individualized Education Program (IEP) objectives and accommodations.
- Collaborate effectively with parents and staff to communicate student progress and identify additional support needs.
Qualifications
- Must hold or be eligible for an Illinois state license in occupational therapy.
- Strong communication skills with an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility and problem-solving skills to adapt to student and classroom needs.
